National Quilter's Day
The third Saturday in March is National Quilter's Day. Since 1999, I have celebrated NQD with a one-day retreat. Each year I design a twin-size quilt that can be constructed in a day. This year's quilt is called "The Craftsman", and will be available for commercial sale soon. NQD quilts available now include "Prairie Window", "Connections" and "The Mahjongg Quilt". The Thrifty Quilter explains a system for pre-cutting scrap fabrics (I do it as soon as I finish a project) and gives you 80 blocks you can build in two sizes each, with just three pieces...a large square a small square and a rectangle. You'll be able to design and make hundreds of quilts using mostly leftover fabric!
The offical"Launch Party" for The Thrifty Quilter was Sunday, May 16th.
Most of the quilters who made samples for the book were there. We had brunch, we signed each others' books (felt a little like high school again!), ate cake and had a great time!
I have added a gallery page for Thrifty Quilter Quilts (see index- right) ...and I'll be looking forward to adding your quilts to it!
